To enhance deep-level and multi-faceted collaboration with world-leading universities, innovate exchange models, and support the cultivation of outstanding talent in the field of Education, the East China Normal University(ECNU)Faculty of Education has been consistently deepening and advancing its International Academic Week program.
In 2025, the Faculty will organize a series of International Academic Weekswith several globally renowned institutions,including Columbia University (USA), the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge (UK), Korea University (South Korea), the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria (Canada), Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon (France), the University of Lisbon (Portugal), and the Universidad de Vic-Universidad Central de Catalunya (Spain).These initiatives aim to promote substantive academic exchange and collaboration.
As the flagship program under the Faculty of Education's internationalization strategy,the Oxford and Cambridge International Academic Week has run successfullyfor three consecutive years since 2023,involving a total of 10 faculty members and 29 students.
From July 15 to 26, 2025, an ECNU Faculty of Education delegation revisited the Department of Education at the University of Oxford and the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge,engaging in a 10-day Academic Week.
The event was organized by the Institute of Higher Education and the Institute of International and Comparative Education at the Faculty of Education. The delegation was led by Professor Yan Guangcai, Convener of the Oxford Academic Week; Professor Zhang Dan, Convener of the Cambridge Academic Week; along with Professor Zheng Tainian, Professor Cheng Liang, and Associate Professor Li Feng. Eleven master's and doctoral students participated from the Institute of Higher Education, the Institute of International and Comparative Education, the Department of Education, the Institute of Curriculum and Instruction, and the Department of Educational Administration.
From July 15 to 17, the delegation visited the department of Education at University of Oxford and conducted the Oxford–ECNU Joint Symposium. Building on last year’s inaugural success, this year’s event once again saw rich academic exchange and strengthened collaborative ties between scholars, early-career researchers, and students from both institutions. The symposium this year concluded with a plenary discussion on the future global higher education,where participants emphasized academic exchange for deepening mutual understanding and advancing higher education research as a global public good.
From July 21 to 24, the "2025 China-Cambridge Education Forum" took place at the University of Cambridge’s St John's College. Under the theme "Dialogues on The Future:Advancing Educational Reform Through Culture, Innovation and Interdisciplinary Research", the forum brought together leading experts, scholars, and early-career researchers in education fromglobal education fields.Throughout theforum activities, ECNU delegates actively contributed insights showcasing the university’s research advances and localized practices in contemporary education.
