Since 2016, the Postdoctoral Research Station for Education at East China Normal University (ECNU) has established the Postdoctoral Program in Education under the Peak Discipline Construction Plan funded by Shanghai Municipal Government. This program aims to attract outstanding young talents worldwide and provide an advanced research platform for exceptional PhDs interested in education and interdisciplinary research, enabling them to achieve academic excellence.
1. Recruitment Fields
Education Theory, Curriculum and Instruction, Comparative Education, Early Childhood Education, Higher Education, Adult Education, Vocational and Adult Education, Special Education, Educational Technology, Educational Economics and Management, Education Sociology, Educational Psychology, Subject Education, Education History, and Other interdisciplinary fields.
2. Application Requirements
Applicants must uphold academic and research ethics and maintain physical and mental health.
They must have obtained or be about to obtain a doctoral degree from a world first class university or research institute. For those who already obtain their PhDs, the degree should be awarded within the last three years.
Applicants should possess strong foreign language skills, demonstrate excellent academic achievements, and have the ability to publish in top-tier SSCI journals or leading domestic academic journals.
The applicant should generally be under 35 years old.
Full-time commitment to postdoctoral research work is required.
3. Salary and Benefits
The Postdoctoral Program in Education under the Peak Discipline Construction Plan is divided into two categories:
Category I: Applicants with doctoral degrees from first class universities in China or abroad are offered an annual salary of 200,000 RMB (before tax).
Category II: Applicants who graduated from the university or the disciplines are ranked among the top 100 globally (according to QS, THE, or US News Ranking List) and meet the requirements of “ECNU Outstanding Postdoctoral Program”, “Shanghai Super Postdoctoral Researchers Plan”, or “China Postdoctoral International Exchange Program," will receive an annual salary of 325,000 RMB (before tax).
Additionally:
A 20,000 RMB housing allowance is provided.
Social insurance and housing fund are provided according to the regulations of Shanghai Municipal Government. For those unable to participate in social insurance due to nationality or other reasons, ECNU will provide commercial medical and accident insurance in accordance with relevant policies.
Assistance is provided with applying for postdoctoral apartments, campus parking permits, and joining the university labor union.
Eligible postdocs may receive up to 30,000 RMB for their overseas academic exchange activities.
Postdocs meeting the requirements for intermediate professional titles may apply for the position of Assistant Researcher.
Benefits include household registration (hukou) transfer, as well as child care and school enrollment for children, as per national postdoctoral policies.
Postdocs with outstanding performance at the end of their contracts will be given priority for entry into ECNU’s talents recruitment programs.
4. Selection Process
The selection process involves open recruitment by a professional panel, which includes initial review of application materials and expert interview assessments. Candidates who pass the comprehensive evaluation will be admitted to the Postdoctoral Program in Education under the Peak Discipline Construction Plan.
