At 4 p.m. on July 1st, Beijing time, at the invitation of the Global Engagement of King’s College London, the Faculty of Education held an online meeting with the School of Education, Communication and Society of the university to explore the possibility of exchanges and cooperation between the two universities’ educational disciplines. Tania Lima (Director of Global Engagement), Beatrice Szczepek Reed (Head of the School of Education, Communication and Society), David Pepper (Head of International Education Affairs of the School), Maren Elfert (Lecturer in Education and Society), and Angela Jin (Senior Partnership Specialist of Global Engagement) attended the meeting. The attendees of our Faculty are: Xun Yuan (Executive Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education), Shen Wei (Party Branch Secretary of the Institute of International and Comparative Education), Zheng Tainian (Deputy Director of the Institute of International and Comparative Education), Zhang Dan, Zhu Gang, Chen Hongyan (Associate Professors of the Institute of International and Comparative Education), Qiu Yue (Director of the International Affairs Division of the Faculty of Education) and Cao Xiaoying (Project Director of the International Exchange Division of ECNU).
During the meeting, Xun Yuan, Executive Associate Dean of the Faculty expressed gratitude to King’s College London for the invitation, and invited the participants to know about the Faculty of Education through an English promotional video. He said that King’s College London is a world-renowned research university, whose education discipline is also very strong. It is hoped that both sides will explore suitable research areas for collaborations based on their preliminary mutual understanding. Dean Reed introduced their education disciplines, including professional settings, research fields, and especially the scientific research cooperation between the university and large international organizations such as UNESCO and OECD. She said that King’s College London has always been keen to cooperate with China’s top universities in education disciplines, and the Faculty of Education of ECNU is undoubtedly an ideal cooperative partner. Attendees from both sides introduced their respective research fields and talent cultivation profiles, expressed their willingness to cooperate in the fields of comparative education, education policy, education governance, learning science, and cross-cultural education research, as well as explored the possibility of expanding dual master degree programs. At the same time, ECNU side introduced International Academic Exchange Week program, hoping to build it as a platform to carry out exchanges activities, and promote deeper cooperation between the two sides.
