Prof. John O’Regan from University College London Visits Faculty of Education

On November 26th, 2019, Prof. John O’Regan (Associate Dean of Institute of Education) from University College London (UCL) visited the Faculty of Education, ECNU. Prof. O’ Regan attended a meeting with the representatives from the Faculty of Education of ECNU, including Dean of Faculty of Education Yuan Zhenguo, Yang Fuyi (Associate Dean of Faculty of Education), Zhang Wenming (Associate Director of National Institutes of Educational Policy), Qiu Yue (Director of the International Affairs Division)and Chen Jiaxin (Postgraduate Student of National Institutes of Educational Policy).

Dean Yuan Zhenguo introduced the international cooperation projects such as “International Academic Exchange Week” with the world’s high-level universities and educational institutes, looking forward to take advantage of the “International Academic Exchange Week” project as a starting point to build a teacher-student exchange platform with UCL to promote deeper collaboration between the two universities. O’ Regan said that IOE has always hoped to cooperate with first-class universities in China, in which ECNU list. The academic level, scientific research model and teaching level of the two universities are well matched. It is possible to establish cooperative relations and expand more fruitful cooperation. After discussion, a preliminary consensus was reached, and cooperation was planned in some research areas such as learning science, preschool education, and special education.

At the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which signified that the two universities had established a formal cooperative relationship on educational discipline based on years of exchanges and laid the foundation for further expansion of specific cooperation projects.

Prof. Zhang Wenming and Prof. O’ Regan discussed scientific research cooperation in the field of education policy, and reached a preliminary model based on research project cooperation.
