Florence Le Hebel, Associate Professor from Université Claude Bernard Lyon in France
Florence Le Hebel briefly summarized the history of PISA international assessment and showed the overall picture of 2006 and 2015 PISA scientific assessments of France by combining the research results of PISA science secondary analysis of the past 10 years. The average score of PISA in France in 2006 and 2015 was significantly higher than the OECD’s. Compared with other OECD countries, the socioeconomic and cultural status of French students had a great impact on their performance in the PISA test. Hebel pointed that there were great differences in the definition of scientific literacy between PISA 2006 and PISA 2015. The former emphasized the ability to acquire procedural knowledge while the latter emphasized the ability to acquire cognitive knowledge. From the perspective of the PISA test and the understanding of middle school students, Hebel analyzed the possible problems and countermeasures in PISA scientific evaluation and introduced how to predict students’ potential difficulties and strategies in solving the PISA scientific task. The speech received a large applause from teachers and students while frequent interaction and heated discussions also occurred.
