On October 18th, 2017, the Teaching Committee of the Faculty of Education held the defense review meeting for the 2017 English-taught Course Construction Project to achieve the goal of the internationalization strategy which aims to enhance the internationalization of personnel training, curriculum, and teaching.
The meeting focused on three topics. The first one was a review of the third batch of English-only courses construction projects applied in 2017; the second one was to conduct mid-term inspection of the second batch of English-taught courses construction projects approved in 2016; the last one was to complete and evaluate the first batch of English-only courses construction projects approved in 2015.
During the project review stage, seven teachers who are responsible for the third batch of English-taught course construction projects respectively stated the construction basis, teaching objectives, curriculum contents and implementation plans, and answered the questions raised by the judges.
Considering the curriculum foundation, the target setting of student needs, course benefits and other factors, four courses were successfully applied.
In the mid-term inspection stage, six representatives of the second batch of English courses respectively gave the reports ranging from the progress of the course construction and the expected accomplishments to the improvement plan for the next stage. They also had discussions with judges regarding the difficulties encountered during the practical teaching of the course.
According to the English-only course construction plan of the Faculty of Education, four courses were approved for the mid-term examination.
At the assessment stage, four representatives of the first batch of English-taught course construction projects reported the curriculum construction process, curriculum features, construction achievements and current achievements, and discussed the future construction plans with the judges. All these four courses received approval.
Since 2015, the Faculty of Education has devoted specialty funds to build three cohorts of twelve full English-taught courses which improve students’ ability for international academic exchanges and promotes the internationalization of curriculum construction.
