April 26, 2016, Dean Joanna Osborne Masingila of the Faculty of Education at Syracuse University, Assistant Dean Heather Alexandra Allison, Associate Professor Jing Lei visited the Faculty of Education to discuss the joint training of graduate students and other related matters. Professor Yuan Zhenguo, Dean of the Faculty of Education hosted the meeting. The heads and directors from the relevant departments of the Faculty of Education attended the meeting to discuss and share their opinions.


The Participants introduced the related teaching and research situations of their departments respectively, and discussed in detail the postgraduate joint training dual degree program, the entire English course construction, and the Joint Symposium meeting held in AERA2017, and reached common views on those aspects. They decided to develop the dual degree program focused on five directions, such as special education, information technology and educational innovation, education leadership and management, curriculum design and development, and international education understanding; to actively promote the construction of an entirely English taught program with a double degree, interdisciplinary curriculum. The program aims to jointly research: “school reform in the context of multiculturalism”, “inclusive education”, “Sino-US teacher education comparison and reflection” and other aspects. Through international cooperation and an innovative graduate training mode, the both sides could promote the curriculum reform and development while employing the exchange of teachers and students, and joint research.

In the afternoon, Prof. Joanna O. Masingila held an academic lecture entitled as “the Landscape of U.S. Teacher Education: Challenges and Opportunities” at the Science Building. The lecture was hosted by Professor Zhou Bin. More than 80 teachers and students from the Faculty of Education attended the lecture.
