From March 7th to 11th, 2016, Yuan Zhenguo, Dean of the Faculty of Education, led a delegation to visit Nagoya University, Japan. The members of the delegation were including Huang Jing, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education, Li Zhengtao, Director of Scientific Research Division, Yang Fuyi, Director of International Affairs Division, Prof. Wu Zunmin from the Department of Education, and three Ph.D students from the Faculty of Education.
During the period, professors of two universities held a joint seminar on the theme of “The Forefront of Educational Research,” sharing and exchanging research results. Professor Wu Zunmin introduced the history and future prospect of lifelong education in China with the report “Review and Prospect of the Development of China’s Lifelong Education Since the Reform and Opening-up.” Professor Huang Jin shared her latest research results “The Research over Kindergarten Teacher’s Mathematical Knowledge (PM-PCK) – Based on Sino-US Cooperation and Comparison”; about the most critical “education fairness” issue in contemporary China’s education, Professor Li Zhentao introduced “China’s experience.” Professor Sarkar Arani Mohammad Reza gave a report on “Multicultural Curriculum Analysis: Prospects and Possibilities.”
The doctoral students of the two sides conducted a special academic exchange. The meeting was presided by Professor Moriki TERADA from the Department of Education of Nagoya University. Doctoral students Deng Lu, Zhang Yannan and Song Nan, respectively introduced their research papers with the themes on “A study on the Curriculum Policy of Basic Education in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,” “The Application of Large Data in the Field of Education,” “Study on autonomy of primary and secondary school Running – the Perspective of Education Governance”; two doctoral students at Nagoya University also shared their current research. Prof. Moriki TERADA and Prof. Jiro TAKAI put forward highly specific and constructive opinions from the perspectives of research, research ideas, and especially research methods. The two doctoral students of Nagoya University also exchanged research from their own research experience.
The joint teacher-student seminar facilitated the further understanding of the two sides and also expanded cooperation between the two sides in the fields of education personnel training and scientific research.
